How do you use Soapstone Sealer?
Applying Soapstone Sealer is a straightforward process that provides a permanent, low-maintenance alternative to mineral oil. By following these steps, you ensure your soapstone surfaces are deeply protected and visually enhanced:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the area is clean, dry, and completely free of dust or debris. Soapstone Sealer is specifically designed for raw or honed porous surfaces; it is not suitable for glossy or highly polished stone, as the sealer needs to penetrate the surface to work effectively.
- Initial Application: Using a soft cloth or brush, apply a thin, even layer of Soapstone Sealer to the stone. It is best to work in small, manageable sections to ensure you achieve complete and uniform coverage across the entire surface.
- Buffing: Allow the sealer to penetrate the stone for a few moments. Before it begins to dry on the surface, buff the area lightly with a clean, dry cloth. This removes any excess sealer and leaves behind a beautiful, consistent low-luster finish.
- Curing: While the surface can be used for light tasks relatively quickly, the penetrating oils require a 30-day cure time to reach maximum durability. During this window, avoid placing heavy objects or food directly on the surface to allow the finish to harden and protect properly.
