How do you use Paste Wax?

Paste Wax is a versatile finishing and maintenance product that provides a soft, polished luster while adding a protective layer to your wood projects. Its creamy consistency makes it easy to apply and buff to your desired sheen.

  • Surface Preparation: Ensure the wood is clean, dry, and free of any dust, oils, or residues. Paste Wax can be applied directly to raw wood or as a protective topcoat over previously finished or painted surfaces.
  • Initial Application: Using a clean, lint-free cloth or a natural bristle brush, apply a thin, even layer of wax. Work the wax into the wood by following the direction of the grain. It is important to avoid applying a thick layer, as this can lead to uneven spots or a tacky finish.
  • Setting Period: Allow the wax to sit on the surface briefly. This "dwell time" allows the natural beeswax and carnauba waxes to settle and the oils to nourish the wood fibers.
  • Buffing: Once the wax has set, use a clean, soft cloth or a mechanical buffer to polish the surface. Work in small sections using circular motions until you achieve your desired level of luster.
  • Building the Finish: If you want a deeper finish or more protection, you can apply additional coats. Be sure to buff the previous layer before applying the next coat to ensure a smooth, hard finish.
