How do you use Wood Wax?

Applying Wood Wax is a simple process that combines the instant luster of a wax with the deep-seated protection of penetrating oils. Following these steps will ensure your wood stays nourished and protected:

  • Preparation: Start with a surface that is clean, dry, and free of dust. Wood Wax works best on raw wood or surfaces finished with Real Milk Paint®. It should not be applied over non-porous synthetic finishes, as the oils need to penetrate the fibers to be effective.
  • Initial Application: Using a soft, lint-free cloth, rub a small amount of wax onto the wood. It is best to work in the direction of the grain to ensure the oils are driven deep into the wood's pores.
  • Buffing: After the wax has had a moment to settle into the wood, use a clean, dry cloth to buff the surface. This step removes any excess and brings out a beautiful, polished sheen.
  • Curing: While the surface will look great immediately, the wax requires a 30-day cure time to reach its maximum level of water resistance and durability.
