How do you use Citrus Solvent?

Citrus Solvent is a natural, high-performance tool that serves as a safer alternative to petroleum-based thinners. Its ability to evaporate cleanly and degrease surfaces makes it indispensable for wood finishing and workshop maintenance:

  • Thinning Oil Finishes: To help oils like Pure Tung Oil penetrate deeper into the wood, mix Citrus Solvent directly into the oil before application. As the solvent evaporates during the drying process, it carries the oil deep into the wood fibers, ensuring a more durable and long-lasting finish.
  • Degreasing Surfaces: For surfaces that are oily or greasy, apply Citrus Solvent directly to the area. Allow it to sit for a moment to break down the buildup, then wipe it clean with a dry cloth. Because it is non-toxic and food-safe, it is an excellent choice for prepping kitchen surfaces or old furniture for a new finish.
  • Cleaning Tools and Equipment: To clean brushes or tools after using oil-based products, apply Citrus Solvent to the bristles or surface and work it in to dissolve the residue. Wipe away the excess with a clean cloth.
  • General Cleanup: Use it as a natural cleaner to remove sticky residues, adhesives, or accidental oil drips. It will leave the area clean and smelling of fresh citrus without raising the wood grain or leaving behind a film.
